Frequently Asked Questions
-
There are many options for newborn support, and it’s important to find the right fit for your family whether it’s our team or another company. We take care to match you with someone who fits your schedule, care preferences, and personality.
Many of our team members are also parents themselves, so they understand firsthand the challenges and joys of the newborn period. They’ve been exactly where you are, which brings an added layer of empathy and reassurance to the care they provide.
While many agencies charge high booking fees, Huddle goes beyond staffing. Along with night nurse services and postpartum doulas, you also have access to pediatric nurse practitioners, postpartum mental health counseling, and lactation support—all within a similar price range.
-
All of our night nurses are licensed professionals (Registered nurses) with backgrounds in pediatrics, NICU, postpartum, labor & delivery, or related specialties. Every nurse completes a background check, drug testing, and orientation aligned with American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines. Most also have years of bedside hospital experience caring for newborns, which they bring into your home with both expertise and compassion.
-
Yes. You’ll have the option to speak with our nurses in an interview fashion prior to finalizing your contract with us. We also offer a complimentary daytime shift once the baby is home so you can connect with your nurse before the first overnight. This allows you to feel comfortable, ask questions, and see how your baby responds. We want to make sure both your family and our team members feel comfortable and connected before the first overnight.
-
Not at this time. We do accept HSA and FSA payments (check with your plan to confirm eligibility). Some employer benefits (like Carrot Card or Maven Wallet) may also cover our services. You can even add Huddle to your baby registry.
-
Your night nurse’s role is to support your family so you can rest. During the night, they handle feedings, diaper changes, soothing, and tracking your baby’s sleep, feeding, and output. They’ll bring your baby to you for breastfeeding if desired, or manage bottle feedings if that’s your preference. By morning, you’ll have a rested baby and notes on how the night went—so you can wake up feeling refreshed and informed.
-
Absolutely. Many of our nurses have extensive experience caring for twins and multiples. We’ll help you navigate feeding schedules, sleep, and soothing routines for more than one newborn, while still making sure parents get the rest they need.

For night nurse services, we recommend contacting us in early 3rd trimester (~30 weeks), or ~2-3 months prior to adoption or foster placement. If you are outside of that window, have already welcomed a new baby home, or are just wanting short term services, please reach out and we will make every attempt to accommodate you.
-
No. We’re a supplemental service, not a replacement for your pediatrician. You should continue to see your PCP for well checks and in-person exams.
Our role is to bridge the gaps between those visits—offering guidance, reassurance, and answers to the everyday questions that come up in parenting. We provide personalized telehealth support from newborn care through young adulthood.
-
We’re happy to evaluate many concerns virtually, but some conditions require in-person care. Examples include:
Fever lasting more than 5 days
Ear infections (otitis media)
Strep throat
Pneumonia
Asthma flare-ups or new wheezing
We may order labs if needed, but chronic or complex conditions are best handled with an in-person evaluation.
